This is how AV and I do a random Thursday night in South Bend. Jealous? You should be. In case you haven't heard of it, Pliny the Elder is made by Russian River Brewing Company in California (not for sale in the South Bend area), and is rated as one of the top beers in the world. This is one of the most delicious beers I've ever had, and can't wait until the next time I can find some.
I am more jealous now than I have ever been. I scoured Seattle for this when I was there a few weeks ago, to no avail. However, I did get to try Russian Ricer's Damnation, which was a super solid golden ale. Have you had the Younger?
ReplyDeleteRiver dammit, not Ricer.
ReplyDeleteI have not had PtY yet, and this was my first experience with Russian River (one hell of an introduction, right?). Anyhow, I'm hooked!
ReplyDeleteJust a standard Thursday night, no big deal. Haha! PtY is seasonal, comes out around February. It was long gone by the time I visited the area.
ReplyDeletePtY is not only seasonal, it is ONLY available as 10oz pours in the RR brewpub when it is released on Younger Day in Feb. And it usually sells out that day. They used to do growler fills but stopped that last year. So, the only way to get PtY is to go to Santa Rosa, California.
ReplyDeletebtw, they make some of the best sour beers on the planet. Try to get your hands on some of their Sanctification, Supplication or Consecration.
