Special Bell's Tapping at Bar Louie (Mishawaka, IN)
Our friends over at Bar Louie in Mishawaka are throwing a little all day bash tomorrow including the likes of "The Oracle" and "Hopsolution," among others. Hopsolution will be a new one for me, although I'm sure it's rareness will really shine through. The Oracle on the other hand, well, it's every bit as incredible as people claim it to be. The Oracle is easily the best Double IPA in the Midwest, and would certainly hold its own against any of the delicious West-Coast DIPAs. Don't believe me? Good. I don't want you to drink it anyway. In fact, forget I said anything.
From the FB Event...
"HOP into Bar Louie this Thursday to drink some outstanding limited IPA's from Bell's Brewery! The beers will be tapped as soon as Louie's doors open at 11am. And the party will go on until the doors close or the beer runs out! Come on out and try the always amazing classic Two Hearted Ale. Also on tap will be 2 limited releases from Bells. Hopsolution IPA, which rarely makes it way out of their brew pub these days, and The Oracle Double IPA, which as been described by me as "drinking liquid gold". Even if you cannot make it, please pass this event on to some of your beer drinking friends who might like to attend."
This may be the last time you see Hopsolution in this area, and The Oracle won't be back until next year, so get it while you can...

Michiana beer update... (Bare Hands, Zombie Dust, Liquor Cabinet)
I don't generally like to mash a bunch of updates into one post, but they are pretty short and tomorrow is the College Football opener, so my interest in doing anything but watching ESPN is pretty low. So with that said....
- Liquor Cabinet in Saint Joseph recieved two cases of Bell's Oracle. If you missed out in the South Bend area, go get you some. Two bottle limit. They also have 6 bottles of Founders Blushing Monk left. It's in the back, so don't delay.
- Spoke with The Mark earlier today regarding Zombie Dust. They have the keg in their cooler (I asked if I could visit it, surprisingly they said yes) but are waiting to kick 3 Floyds APW, then they will put on Dreadnaught, and then Zombie Dust. My guess is that it will be in at least a week, if not two or more.
- Also spoke with Bar Louie regarding Zombie Dust. Still waiting to kick Dreadnaught. I'm going to need you all to stop by there, get tanked on the stuff to get ZD moved into the lineup quicker. Do it for America.
- Chris at Bare Hands Brewery in Granger mentioned he finally received his federal license. He's going to start brewing batches next week and stocking up for a mid-October opening. He will also be at the Potawatomi Zoo Brew with the following lineup, so that would be a great opportunity to give his beer a try. You will not be disappointed (unless you are a moron (my words, not his)).
- Cream Ale
- Hefeweizen
- IPA
- Belgian Double
- Imperial Porter
- Double IPA
- Barleywine

What I've been drinking lately...
Hardly a week goes by before I get asked, "Andy, what are you on?" Ok, I'm mostly joking, however I do frequently get asked what I've been drinking lately, and regardless of the occasional blank stare, I enjoy answering. No beer review here, just solid consumption and relaxation...The first, something I've thoroughly enjoyed this year from one of my favorite breweries: Dogfish Head (Based in Delaware) Indian Brown Ale. As some of you may be aware, the Indian Brown Ale style is a fairly recent addition to the craft beer industry with its well balanced mixture of rich roasted malts and floral hops. Inside you'll find some coffee flavor, slight brown sugar notes, and unmistakable floral hops. At around 7.5%, it's no session beer, but a damn good 2-3 pint beverage. Some area liquor stores carry this, and you can find it (while it lasts) on tap at Bar Louie in Mishawaka.

The other is from another favorite brewer of mine, Stone Brewing Company in California. Their IPA should please hopheads and beer enthusiast alike with its Columbus, Chinook and Centennial hop varieties hitting 77 IBU's. Sitting at 6.7% ABV, you'll have just the right amount of boozy warmth to drink a handful of these. This can also be found at local liquor stores in the South Bend area, as well as being on tap at Bar Louie.
